Jaden Smith Makes a Batman Music Video and I Try My Hardest Not to Laugh
Jaden Smith has the coolest dad in the world... Will Smith. I mean, you can't get much cooler than that. At least I don't think so. But he makes a lot of decisions that confuse people. Like when he donned a white Batman outfit. Pretty silly right? Well, now he's made a whole music video about Batman, with himself starring as Batman, and he's wearing the white Batman costume.
This... is funny. I can't say it's not funny. It's not funny in a haha way, but more of a "what my imagination can think of to make fun of" way. I have so, So, SO many questions to ask about this. I don't want to make fun of him. Growing up in front of the world is hard enough. If everything I did when I was in high school was shown to the world, people would think I was a little weird too.
So watch the video and then get back to me. See what you think. I've included my thoughts on it below the video.
Lets just... deconstruct it, and not... make fun.... So... the video starts with Jaden Smith waking up in a field of grass. Somewhere. As he gets up, he just starts swearing, like any boy his age might after waking up in a field of grass. He swears and kicks, while a symbol is in the sky? Not the Bat-Symbol, but three lines kinda in a circle. At first, I thought my computer was just not showing the image... but it was... it was. He picks up a glass of liquid. Seeing as he's underage, I'm gonna say it's water, also... it's probably water. He picks it up and sees what I'll call it the "J symbol". So he gets in his car and starts driving... somewhere. He tells his phone while in the car, that he'll be there in twenty minutes, to which a voice, whom I assume is Alfred because it sounds like a kid, maybe Jaden himself, doing an old man voice responding with "OK, Mr. Wayne." He gets home to what looks like his house, but not like Bruce Wayne's house, but like a room of Jaden's house that he got permission to use. His phone rings. He looks at it, chooses not to answer, but then immediately looks at it again and chooses to answer. It's not someone different calling. It's the same person. He just changes his mind. Then the voice asks Jad Bruce Wayne, about rumors circulating that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person. Oh NO. Ok. Hang on. I'm starting to get sarcastic. Gonna tone this back. That is quite the dilemma for him, so he asks who he's speaking with then hangs up. Then, as if deep in thought, writes Batman on his "thought window". You know, like in House and other medical or hero shows, when they have to piece things together they have like a board that's glass that they write things on. He writes it on one of those. Why did he just put his own name on there? Is he a suspect? Let's move on to the actual rap part of the ... production.
Alfred calls as he leaves, but hangs up on him. Then the credits... start. and uh... the words Bruce Wayne appear over Jaden Smith. And then he jumps ropes, and wrestles. From there... I just. I can't do this. He drives up in a white vehicle with wing doors. Except, he's not driving, because he's in the backseat rapping at us. I don't understand most of the "rap" part, but I do understand the chorus which gets piped in often. "Batman, Batman, Batman". He appears on a mountainside as well jumping around and rapping. Then in a city, where Batman and Superman street performers are, and he starts a fight with them, and part of me believes they weren't actors because they had their faces blurred out for the video. So Jaden might have just found these guys and started fighting them... just cuz. By the way, this whole time, he's in his white Batman costume, making it even stranger. He ends the video with him saying goodbye to everyone on the street, and then folding his arms and walking away in a full bat pout.
I'm not the weird one, right? This is odd. I can't think of something more odd. Every time I watch it, I think I'm about to wake up from a dream. Huh. Batman, Batman, Batman. Let me know what you think below.
