Jai Courtney Teases The "Different Flavor" of James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD

Fans seem to be very excited about James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. A lot of people loved what he brought to Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel and we can’t want to see what he ends up bringing to the Suicide Squad team.

During a recent interview with Variety, Jai Courtney talked about how he adjusted to James Gunn’s approach to The Suicide Squad and explained that the movie is going to have a different flavor than the first movie. He said:

“I think it’s kind of got a different flavor. There’s a whole bunch of new characters. James Gunn has an approach to things that is uniquely his; he pulls a lot of that into the Suicide Squad world. And I think that it fits really well, and audiences are going to have a lot of fun with it.”

It’s this different flavor that has fans super excited. For those of you who enjoy the films that Gunn makes, you know we are going to get something totally wild, fun, crazy, and filled with humor and heart. Courtney went on to share his experience with shooting a scene from the film involving water where hilarity ensues:

“I won’t say too much, but there’s a particular sequence when I get very wet. And a few other people do, and hilarity ensued when it came to that. When you’re spending hours upon hours in a water tank with a bunch of people treading water, and you’ve got Styrofoam stuffed into every crevice of your costume to try and take the load off and because it’s 4am, it gets quite ridiculous.”

The actor went on to talk about his career, saying:

“I am lucky that sometimes I’m making these small-budget gritty dramas like Stateless. And sometimes I’m out shooting big ridiculous action comedies like Suicide Squad. To have feet on both of those trains is a lot of fun — and it also means that I never get tired of it.”

The story for Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is still very much shrouded in secrecy. We don’t know much at all, but we do know there will be several new DC characters making their big-screen debuts.

The Suicide Squad cast also includes Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, David Dastmalchian, Storm Reid, Taika Waititi and John Cena.

The film is set for release on August 6th, 2021.
