Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan Starring in WILDLIFE, Paul Dano's Directorial Debut

It's been a few years since Carey Mulligan has been in a high-profile mainstream movie, but now she's joining forces with Jake Gyllenhaal to star in a new film called Wildlife, which will mark the directorial debut of actor Paul Dano.

Variety says that Dano wrote the screenplay with actress Zoe Kazan, who wrote the 2012 movie Ruby Sparks in which she starred opposite Dano. Wildlife is based on Richard Ford's novel about "a boy who witnesses his parents’ marriage falling apart after his mom finds another man."

“In Richard’s book I saw myself and many others. I have always wanted to make films — and have always known I would make films about family,” Dano said. “I couldn’t be happier to have such beautiful collaborators like Carey and Jake leading the way.”

Sounds like it could be a heavy, emotional drama — exactly the kind of project that brings out the best of both of those actors.
