Jake Gyllenhaal Reteams with SOUTHPAW Director Antoine Fuqua for 911 Dispatch Thriller THE GUILTY
Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in a new film titled The Guilty, which will reunite him with Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua. The film is a thriller that is set in a 911 dispatch call center.
The story takes place over the course of a single morning and follows call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) as he “tries to save a caller in grave danger—but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.”
The film is actually based on the Gustav Moller-directed Danish drama Den Skyldige that originally premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
Gyllenhaal said in a statement, “I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again. Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to.”
The Guilty will shoot in November in a single location in Los Angeles, and Fuqua will make the film before starting work on Will Smith’s runaway slave drama Emancipation, which is being produced for Apple TV+.
