JAMES BOND Director Sam Mendes in Talks to Direct Disney's PINOCCHIO

Disney Studios is looking to lure James Bond director Sam Mendes into helming their live-action adaptation of Pinocchio. Mendes is a great director and this would be a very different kind of film project for him to take on, which is why I hope it all works out. I think he would do a fantastic job adapting the story of Pinocchio for the big screen.

Pinocchio is one of my favorite Disney animated films. Not only is it one of the most beautifully hand-drawn animated films ever made, the story is the stuff horrific nightmares are made of! Holy Hell! That scene where Lampy turns into a jackass scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid! It made me never want to do anything bad! It was horrific! That's going to be interesting to see in live-action.

Mendes directing the film isn't set in stone yet, but if Disney ends up getting him, I'm sure he'll deliver a great movie! Chris Weitz (Rogue One) wrote the current version of the script and he will also be producing it through his production company, Depth of Field.

Disney has been enjoying all the money that these live-action remakes have been making for them, so I don't think they'll stop making them anytime soon. The Mouse House is currently developing The Lion King and The Jungle Book 2 with Jon Favreau, Tim Burton's Dumbo, Guy Ritchie's Aladdin, Cruella De Vil, and Mulan. Personally, I'd love to see a live-action adaptation of The Black Cauldron! I loved that movie!

On top of Skyfall and Spectre, Mendes is also the director behind American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, and more. What do you think about the possibility of him taking on Pinocchio?
