JAMES BOND: THE MUSICAL is Heading to Broadway

James Bond by Ben Pearson

James Bond's next cinematic adventure is only a few months away. Spectre hits theaters in November, and the eyes of the world will be on Daniel Craig's version of the super spy to see if the film is an apt follow-up to the well-regarded Skyfall. But soon after, Bond will be heading somewhere he's never visited before: the stages of Broadway.

Playbill reports that Merry Saltzman, the daughter of Bond producer Harry Saltzman (who jumpstarted the cinematic franchise with Cubby Broccoli back in 1962), has secured the rights for a stage show, which will include a brand new storyline, some familiar Bond villains and "some new ones," as well as its own new Bond girl. For those of you who care about this sort of thing, the book will be by novelist Dave Clarke and the music and lyrics will be by composer Jay Henry Weisz.

The production is looking at a late 2017 or early 2018 debut on Broadway or in Las Vegas. I really hope Jaws takes the stage for a stirring but indecipherable solo at some point.
