James Cameron is Looking To Reinvent The TERMINATOR Franchise With a New Trilogy
James Cameron just dropped a big piece of news regarding the Terminator franchise that he's been looking to jump back into. In a recent interview with News.com.au, the filmmaker revealed his plans for the Terminator. Those plans are to reinvent the franchise and develop a trilogy of films. Here's his quote:
“The question is — has the franchise run its course or can it be freshened up? So I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it.”
If Cameron is going to be deep in the creation and development of a new Terminator trilogy, I'm all for it! Look, the past few films have been disappointing, but if Cameron is going to be involved, he'll give us something fresh, new, and different. He'll guide the franchise in the right direction and give fans the Terminator films that they want to see.
It was previously revealed that Cameron was going to be working with Deadpool director Tim Miller on the project. Arnold Schwarzenegger said that he would also be involved in the project, which would be cool.
We have no idea what Cameron's plans are in regard to the story the trilogy would tell, but I can't wait to find out! In Cameron we trust.
