James Cameron Isn't Worried About The 10 Year Gap Between AVATAR and AVATAR 2

James Cameron is already one of the greatest filmmakers of our time, and he's now working on a new run of Avatar sequels. And despite Avatar 2 arriving in theaters more than 10 years after the first film, he doesn't seem too concerned that audiences will have lost interest. While speaking at the opening ceremony of Pandora in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom he said:

"It was a seven-year gap between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, seven year gap between Alien and Aliens. It's gonna be obviously more like a ten year gap between Avatar and Avatar 2. But Avatar 2 you are going to with not the promise, but the certainty of three more films beyond that, and that's a very different concept with the audience. And a lot of the delay has been around creating that overall vision."

Cameron does make valid points about the "is 10 years too late" concern some might have. Disney's latest release Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opened this weekend more than 6 years after the last installment of the franchise. And although its not breaking any records it is performing well.

What do you think, is Cameron right or should he be concerned?
