James Cameron Says Machines Are More Terrifying Now Than When He Made TERMINATOR

We all know James Cameron's Terminator films tell the story of how the machines take over and eventually destroy all of human civilization. Well, in a recent interview with Yahoo Finance, Cameron admits now that a takeover by machines is a significant risk, but they're not a deadly threat for millions of humans like in his movies, they are a threat to today's economy.

“I think it’s a much more valid threat than it was when Terminator was made in 1984. Now we’re facing job displacement due to automation. Everyone’s always talking about ‘those damn foreigners taking our jobs.'Guess what guys, it’s not foreigners, it’s robots.”

Cameron also blames the rise of artificial intelligence, which he calls "a significant threat."

The Terminator came up during Yahoo Finance's interview with Cameron about the grand opening for Pandora World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

It's so incredible how a movie from 1984 that had made such bold predictions about the future, ended up being so accurate. There are so many things happening nowadays that parallel the rise of Skynet. Its pretty scary stuff isn't it? (Unless your name is John Connor)
