James Cameron's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Is Now the Third Highest-Grossing Film of All Time
I remember talking about this Avatar sequel years ago which James Cameron was still in development on it and wondering if there was still a market out there that would be interested in returning to the world of Pandora for another story. Lots of people didn’t seem to think that Avatar: The Way of Water would see the same kind of box office success as the original film. Well, never bet against the James Cameron. The guy just has the magic touch.
Avatar: The Way of Water is now the third highest-grossing film of all time. Over the weekend, it surpassed Titanic to take the spot! It’s pretty incredible! So far, the film has made $2,243.2 million globally. Cameron now has three of the top four highest-grossing global movies of all time with Avatar (#1), Avatar: The Way of Water (#3) and Titanic (#4).
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
With this kind of success, you can bet that Disney is going to let James Cameron make all the Avatar movies that he wants.
