James Cameron's Four AVATAR Sequels Get New Release Dates

Director James Cameron and his Avatar crew have announced the new release date for his four Avatar sequels. Avatar 2 is set for December 18, 2020, Avatar 3 will hit December 17, 2021, Avatar 4 is coming on December 20, 2024, and Avatar 5 will be released on December 19, 2025.

Maybe these release dates will actually stick this time. Cameron has been taking his time developing these films to make sure they are exactly what he wants them to be. He's obviously not rushing these films into production.

The news about the films was announced on the movie's official Facebook page this morning and it came along with a picture of Cameron and his crew. The photo came with the following statement:

"Great to be working with the best team in the business! Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels."

We don't really have any details on the stories that these sequels will tell, but Cameron has previously explained that each of them will be able to stand on their own, but will together create a saga.

The first Avatar film made $2.8 billion at the box office and it will be interesting to see if any of these sequels come close to that number when they are released.
