James Earl Jones Reprises Darth Vader Role in OBI-WAN KENOBI Series
It’s been officially confirmed that James Earl Jones is back in the role of Darth Vader in Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series! Star Wars fans expected Jones to voice Vader in the series, but it’s nice to now have that confirmation.
Darth Vader made his first big appearance in all his Sith Lord glory in episode three of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and hearing Jones’ voice as Darth Vader again was incredibly cool! I won’t get into any details of the episode here for those of you who haven’t seen it, but the end of episode two set up his return.
Jones has been providing the voice of Vader since he made his big debut in 1977 in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. He’s been providing the voice of Vader ever since. While Jones is providing the voice of the villain in the new series, Hayden Christensen is the actor physically in the suit.
Another familiar voice you might have recognized in the episode was Zach Braff. Braff makes a cameo in the episode as Freck, an Empire devotee and transport driver. Just thought I’d point that out in case you didn’t know.
While I’ve been enjoying the show for the most part, there’s plenty of stuff to nitpick. It’s definitely not at the level of quality as The Mandalorian. I’m certainly interested in seeing how this story plays out, especially now that Vader has been introduced in all his might.
