James Franco is Set To Star in an Action Thriller Titled MACE
James Franco has landed his first film project since 2019 with an upcoming action thriller titled Mace. Franco has been the subject of controversy over the past few years due to sexual misconduct allegations, and a lawsuit was filed against him, which was settled for $2.2 million. I honestly wasn’t sure if we’d ever see Franco in a movie again, but it looks like people are still willing to work with him even though some of his close friends and collaborators have distanced themselves from him.
Mace follows the story “of two very different kinds of cops. Mace (Franco) is a veteran officer, corrupt and dangerously unhinged, while Virgin Woods is a young rookie who believes that he can change the system that fosters cops like Mace from within. Inspired by the racial injustice on the streets of America, Woods refuses to be bullied and pits his principles against the amoral Mace, risking everything he believes in to stop Mace from destroying the city when Mace unleashes a gang war to cover up his crimes.”
The movie is set to be directed by The Singing Detective and The Man Who Knew Too Little helmer Jon Amiel from a script written by David Chisholm.
Myriad Pictures CEO Kirk D’Amico said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be returning to Cannes with this highly original and unique film. It is a gritty story set in a modern-day police department where nothing is what it seems. We think that this material in the hands of such an experienced director as Jon Amiel will yield extraordinary results.”
I’ve always liked Franco as an actor, but the dude obviously made some bad decisions. Hopefully, he’s learned from his mistakes, but it will be interesting to see how people react to his return to acting after everything that’s happened.
