James Gunn Confirms The Events in AVENGERS: ENDGAME Will Not Change His Script For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3
All of the Marvel characters were tossed around and thrown for a loop in the events that occurred in Avengers: Endgame, giving some an end to their story, and some a new path to follow. Many fans wondered what the future looks like now for the Guardians of the Galaxy, as Endgame brought back a Gamora from the past, but then sent her on her way, and teamed Thor up with the crew who are going to want to find Gamora and introduce her to who she became in her alternate future.
But we all knew that Gunn had already planned out his story and written his script for the third Guardians film, so fans had to wonder if this story was part of the plan all along, or if he would be needing to rework the story to fit this narrative. In a recent Q&A on Instagram, a fan asked Gunn about this, and he said:
“The script will change because my scripts always keep changing up until the moment I shoot them. But it won’t change according to anything from Endgame, because I already knew what was in that script before I wrote Guardians 3.”
And that just makes sense because with all the moving parts of the MCU, there has to be a lot of communication between the writers and creators, or else nothing would be cohesive. The films work because they work together and give us a timeline and universe that feels real. If they didn’t, we just wouldn’t care as much.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is in pre-production and is set to hit screens sometime in 2021.
