James Gunn Defends Chris Pratt as People Call For His Replacement as Star Lord
In classic James Gunn style, he has come out in full support of Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. When a Twitter user suggested replacing Pratt with actor Patrick Wilson, Gunn responded in the only way he knows how… by defending Pratt. Check this out.
After that, another Twitter user replied to Gunn, asking if he was "cool with him being part of a homophobic church," and then added, "or does that not matter because he's making you money?"
Gunn once again came to Pratt’s defense, saying: "He isn't. I know the church he currently goes to. Do you? (The answer is you don’t, but you heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone where he goes to church, so decided, 'Yeah, okay, I’ll believe this terrible thing I heard online about this celebrity!')"
The church in question is Zoe Church, an off-shoot of Hillsong Church, which is a megachurch that, up until 2011, referred its LGBTQIA+ members to conversion therapy. Elliot Page called out Pratt out on his involvement with the church back in 2019, tweeting, "If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed."
Pratt responded to that, saying Zoe Church accepts all types of people and that there is "no place for hate in my or this world."
So, it appears that Gunn has looked into this and is willing to fully support Pratt.
