James Gunn Explains How DC Studios Is Different From Marvel Studios

DC Studios head James Gunn recently talked about what makes his DC Studios different from Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios.

Having worked closely with Marvel Studios for years with his Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Gunn learned a lot about how a big studio like that works, and after that experience, he intends to run things differently.

Gunn saw what wasn’t working at Marvel and cut those from DC. He just wants to take his own approach to things and it will help cut out what Marvel has a habit of doing… fixing their movies and TV shows with lots of reshoots.

When asked on Threads whether DC Studios will ever deliver an MCU-style slate reveal, Gunn responded: "It won’t be exactly like Marvel because nothing is greenlit before we have a finished script."

Now, I get that. But, at the same time is seems like Gunn kind of contradicts himself here because DC Studios kicked off with the announcement of 10 film and TV projects as part of its "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate reveal.

We know that projects like The Brave and the Bold and Paradise Lost aren't close to having completed scripts.

However, Gunn has previously said that there's a difference between these announced and greenlit projects so just because these projects were announced doesn’t mean they’ve been greenlit. Hell, there’s always the chance that some of these films won’t even get made.

When that announcement came, it was clear that Warner Bros. wanted to have an epic list of potential future DCU projects to hype the fans. There’s a good chance we may never seen an announcement from DC Studios like that again.
