James Gunn Explains How Yondu's Arrow Works in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
One of the things that I loved about Yondu was the weapon he wielded. That arrow made him the master of death and destruction. In case you've been wondering how Yondu controls that badass thing, James Gunn offered an explanation on Twitter, saying:
"Side note on the yaka arrow: the whistle sound is picked up by the headpiece and is transmitted wirelessly to the arrow."
"2nd side note on the yaka arrow in explanation of an unnamed spoiler: the headpieces are fairly common/simple; the arrow is incredibly rare."
A fan then chimed in and said, "That seems an odd combination, unless the headset also has other uses?" Gunn responded with the following:
"Not odd: there are many brain implantations in the universe (see Korath Vol 1); that tech is easily manipulated from one need to the other."
Unfortunately, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the last time we'll ever see Yondu wield the weapon. But, we did see Kraglin practicing with it during one of the post-credit scenes. I'm sure the next time we seem him, he will have gotten a lot better at it.
