James Gunn Explains Why His DC Shows Will Stick to the "One Episode a Week" Schedule
James Gunn has once again confirmed he’s sticking to his DCU series release plan which will see one episode released per week, instead of dropping them all at once.
When asked by a fan why all the episodes of the DC animated series Creature Commandos wasn't released all at once, DC Studios co-CEO and Superman director Gunn, explained on X:
"Because it affords a quality show an opportunity to be discussed and grow from week to week. [Creature Commandos] has gotten more popular from episode to episode because of the positive discussion around it and has cultivated an enthusiastic audience.
“If we had dropped all the episodes at once who knows what would have happened. I will likely always be in the one-a-week camp for our shows. For people who want to binge all at once they can wait until the end of the season."
Gunn makes has a strong reasoning behind why he wants to keep his one-episode release schedule for his shows.
Creature Commandos was just renewed for Season 2 and it “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails…they’re your last, worst option.”
The team in the series consists of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a gorgon. The voice cast includes David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.
