James Gunn Had To Fight For Dave Bautista To Play Drax in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Last week I shared a list of actors who came close to being cast in some of the big Marvel movie roles. When it came to the character Drax, Marvel was looking at Chadwick Boseman, Jason Momoa, Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade, and more.
It seems like Marvel Studios didn’t initially want WWE wrestler Dave Bautista in the role. Director James Gunn recently revealed on Twitter that he had to fight to get Bautista cast in the role and he explains that the fight was worth it. Here’s what he said:
Well, I’m happy that Gunn won the fight because Bautista is perfect in the role of Drax the Destroyer! He stole every scene that he was in! It’s a good thing that Jason Momoa turned down the role after it was offered to him! Bautista is just the right man for the job.
