James Gunn Has Talked To Warner Bros. About Making Another DC Film Project
It looks like there’s a good chance that director James Gunn might return to the DC universe in the future. The filmmaker recently developed The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker spinoff series, and as Gunn continue to talk about what a great experience it was working with Warner Bros., it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he is looking to come back to work with them on another project.
A fan recently reached out to Gunn on Twitter and asked if he had spoken with Warner Bros. about another DC project following The Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker, and the director responded, "I have yes!"
Obviously, he didn’t share what kind of projects he’s looking to do. But it could be anything from a Suicide Squad sequel to anything else in the DC universe! WB initially was pushing for him to take on a new Superman film, but since he turned that down, that might not be something he’d be interested in touching. Since then, two Superman projects have gone into development- one from J.J. Abrams and the other from Michael B. Jordan.
Gunn will next start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel, and he says that very well could be his last movie for Marvel. So while he’s looking to bring his time with them to an end, he’s obviously looking to continue his filmmaking journey with Warner Bros. and DC. The guy obviously enjoyed the creative freedom that they ended up giving to him.
What other projects would you like to see James Gunn take on in the future at DC and Warner Bros.?
