James Gunn Hilariously Responds to Ridiculous Complaint That There Are Too Many Characters in SUPERMAN: LEGACY

Director James Gunn has a lot on his plate, getting DC Studios in order, and working on the movies and projects that he’s taken on. But that hasn’t stopped him from responding to questions and comments on social media like he has always done. In a recent interaction with a fan, he had a funny response to a complaint about his upcoming film, Superman: Legacy.

What we know about the movie so far is that David Corenswet will star in the film as Clark Kent/Superman; Rachel Brosnahan will play his love interest, reporter Lois Lane; Nathan Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern, Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi is cast as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan will take on the role of a superhero named Metamorpho, whose alter ego is the archaeologist Rex Mason. While this sounds pretty cool to most fans, one person questioned Gunn about the number of characters in the film on social media, and he had a pretty funny response:

I get that there can be some hesitation from fans to see superfluous superheroes just packed into a movie for the sake of it, but I think Gunn has a good enough reputation at this point to be given the benefit of the doubt. He tells a good story, and makes a good movie, so we should just hang in there and see what he’s got for us.

Superman: Legacy will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s expected to begin filming in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
