James Gunn Offers Update on PEACEMAKER Season 2 and His Other SUICIDE SQUAD Spinoff Series
James Gunn has offered an update on the DC universe projects that he’s working on. As you may have heard, his Peacemaker series is finding huge success right now on HBO Max, which means the studio is going to want more.
In a recent interview with Deadline's Hero Nation podcast, Gunn was asked about the possibility of a second season and he said, "There's a really good chance of that. The show is doing extraordinarily well, and we're excited, we all like doing it, we just need to cross some Ts and dot some Is, which is basically me."
So, it sounds like Peacemaker’s story will continue. But, that’s not the only Suicide Squad character that Gunn is going to continue to play with. There’s another Suicide Squad spinoff series in the works. In regards to that project Gunn said: "We're working on something else now, another TV show that's connected to that universe."
There’s not information on who that character is and Gunn wouldn’t reveal much. All he did say about it is: "It is connected to this universe, and I don't think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker, it won't be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe."
Gunn will really start to dive into these projects when he’s finished shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. What other Suicide Squad characters would you like to see get their own series? For me, it would be Nathan Fillion’s The Detachable Kid.
