James Gunn Reshares Photo of David Corenswet & Milly Alcock on SUPERMAN Set Ahead of SUPERGIRL Release
DC boss and Superman director James Gunn has shared a set photo from last year’s blockbuster, which features the superhero cousins Kara Zor-El and Kal-El, aka Superman and Supergirl.
The set photo was first shared last year just before the debut film was released, and now Gunn is sharing it again ahead of Supergirl, which flies into theaters next month.
Milly Alcock and David Corenswet were hand picked by Gunn, who seems to have a knack for choosing the actors with the most heart for his superhero roles.
Corenswet as Clark Kent came off as the quintessential boy next door, and Alcock is the scrappiest underdog who with all her flaws, fans can relate to and root for all in the same moment.
Supergirl’s solo story draws inspiration from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, and it looks like the film is keeping that same emotional backbone.
Kara agrees to help Ruthye (Eve Ridley) track down Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), partly to help her new friend, and partly because she’s got her own reasons to settle the score. They are joined by Jason Momoa as Lobo; David Krumholtz as Zor-El; and Corenswet returning as Kal-El/Clark Kent.
Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26th. Check out the throwback photo in the post below:
