James Gunn Reveals Big Name Writers Come Aboard DC's GREEN LANTERN Series
Head of DC, James Gunn, has revealed the writers who have come aboard his DC Green Lantern series, Lanterns.
In a recent Instagram post, Gunn said, "Yes, it's true. The Lanterns DCU series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof.
“A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family (no welcome necessary for old @tomking_tk, who has been here nearly since inception)."
When the series was first announced a year ago, Gunn and Peter Safran described it as “a huge HBO-quality TV event. It's already in development. And our vision for this is very much in the vein of True Detective.
“It's terrestrial-based. It's got two of our favorite Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart starring that's in a True Detective style, type mystery and it plays a really big role leading into the main story that we're telling across our film and television. So this is a very important show for us.”
These are great writers on board the series! Damon Lindelof is best known for creating Lost and Watchmen, as well as writing Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z. Chris Mundy wrote on the shows Bloodline, Ozark, and True Detective. Tom King wrote the comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This sounds like it’s shaping up to be a solid TV project for DC. Lanterns is still early in development.
Stay tuned for updates as it moves forward.
