James Gunn Reveals Big PEACEMAKER Season 2 Cameo Was Filmed During SUPERMAN: “It Instantly Felt Different”
Peacemaker Season 2 just dropped one of its biggest surprises yet, and it connects directly to James Gunn’s upcoming Superman.
⚠️ Spoilers ahead for Peacemaker season 2, episode 6!
If you’re caught up, then you already know the shocking cameo: Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor makes an appearance during a meeting with Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr..
On the official Peacemaker podcast, Gunn revealed that this wasn’t just any scene, but one that was actually filmed during production on Superman.
“This was one of the first scenes we shot,” Gunn explained. “We shot it in the middle of Superman, while we were shooting the Pentagon sequences in Superman.
“It was cool, it was weird because tonally, it instantly felt different from Superman, which is so big and brash, and then this show is so strangely grounded and gritty. And then also hearing Nick curse… I felt like even Nick's performance was different.”
The crossover makes sense, since Gunn has already teased that Peacemaker Season 2 sets the stage for Man of Tomorrow, the official title of the sequel film. From what Gunn has hinted, the movie will see Superman and Lex forced into an uneasy alliance to face off against Brainiac.
Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to hit theaters in 2027, and now with Hoult’s Lex already entering the picture, fans are getting a taste of how tightly these new DCU projects are being woven together.
