James Gunn Says Ben Affleck Really Wants to Direct a DC Studios Film Project

Fans have a ton of exciting content to look forward to at DC Studios. After the rollout of the DC slate, we are speculating about the new titles and what things are going to look like in these new movies and shows. One name that has been tied to the DC name for a while now is former Batman actor Ben Affleck, who has stayed in the mix since the company was taken over by James Gunn and Peter Safran, but we didn’t know in what capacity we would see him involved until now.

During the DC press conference this week, Gunn addressed Affleck’s role at the studio moving forward, saying:

"We're working with Ben Affleck, who really wants to be... has been a part of our architectural team trying to bring things together, and he really wants to direct one of our projects, and we're excited for him doing that."

When asked if Affleck will be involved with the newly-announced The Brave & The Bold movie, which will star a rebooted Batman, Safran and Gunn confirmed that that is not the case, with Safran clarifying:

"No, no, no, no. We're just talking to Ben in general about stuff."

Gunn added:

"Yeah, we and Ben have not decided together, exactly... We're talking about two different projects right now.”

We didn’t hear specifics about what those projects are, but I bet we will hear more soon. Now that the slate has been revealed, each project will start to differentiate and get its own cast and crew worked out. It will be cool to hear how it all pans out. I can’t wait to see DC move in this new direction.
