James Gunn Teases Next Chapter in the SUPERMAN Saga - "I've Already Finished the Treatment"

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn isn’t wasting any time when it comes to continuing the Superman aaga. Fresh off the theatrical release of the film, Gunn has confirmed he’s already laid the groundwork for what comes next.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Peacemaker Season 2 premiere, Gunn said:

"I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the Superman Saga. The treatment is done – which means a very, very worked-out treatment.

“I'm working on that, and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today."

The Superman ending hinted at what's to come, including a fun crossover with Milly Alcock's Supergirl, who will headline her own movie next year.

While fans were initially speculating about a direct Superman sequel, Gunn recently clarified that the upcoming follow-up project simply features Superman in a major role, but it will be filled with several other characters.

This all forms part of Gunn and Peter Safran's larger vision for DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, a rebooted slate that promises to reinvent the DC Universe. Coming up next is Peacemaker Season 2, debuting August 21, with John Cena reprising his role as the chaotic anti-hero Christopher Smith.

Also in the pipeline is a Clayface movie penned by Mike Flanagan, a new Wonder Woman project, and the Green Lantern series Lanterns coming to HBO next year. The Superman Saga is clearly just heating up, and fans won't have to wait too long to see where it goes next.
