James Gunn Teases Some GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Details
During a recent Q&A that director James Gunn held on Facebook, he offered some updates regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. There's nothing major revealed, but he did tease a few things. The director confirmed that casting on the film is almost complete and that they will shoot the film for 10 months in Atlanta starting in February 2016.
When asked about the characters who will be introduced in the film, he revealed that there will be at least one new character:
"I’m not going to give names and I won’t give numbers either, but there will be at least one new character in Guardians of the Galaxy."
As for Adam Warlock's involvement in Guardians of the Galaxy and whether or not the character could play a part in Avengers: Infinity War, he said:
"You guys gotta wait and see... Everything’s going to be different in the ‘Infinity Wars.’ I’m a lot more concerned with ‘Vol. 2’ than I am with ‘Infinity Wars.’ The way the movie [’Vol. 2’] is structured and made – it really is a story unto itself. It’s not about leading up to anything else. It’s about the Guardians and their lives."
Gunn was then asked if he will continue his involvement with Marvel after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:
"Probably! If the second one does well. You guys will have to go see the second one. There’s a lot of other Marvel cosmic properties that I’d be interested in helping usher to the screen. I talk about it a lot but, if I said too much here, Marvel might track me down and shoot me.
"As long as I’m working with Marvel, I’ll probably be working on ‘Guardians’ and ‘Guardians’-related projects."
It's good to hear that Gunn is hopefully going to stick with Marvel, and help bring more Marvel cosmic properties to the big screen. The guy obviously knows what he's doing with the characters in this part of the universe.
