James Gunn Teases Two DCU Other Movies and a Mystery TV Project He’s “Excited” About

James Gunn just shared some fresh teases about the future of the DCU, and it sounds like there’s plenty cooking behind the scenes that fans haven’t heard about yet.

In a new interview with GQ, Gunn revealed that two films are already making progress in development, along with a mysterious TV series that still hasn’t been officially greenlit.

"Right now, there's actually two really cool film scripts that I'm hoping to take to the next level that we have general plans for, and I'm excited about both of those.”

He then added:

"And then I'm excited about one TV project in particular. I don't know why we're not greenlighted on that already – it's just figuring out the budget.

“So there's a couple of things that are very present that I'm excited about. Dealing with getting Supergirl into shape, all these other things."

While Gunn didn’t name the projects directly, fans already have a good idea of what might be on the table. On the big screen, Supergirl and Clayface are set to release next year, with Man of Tomorrow lined up for 2027.

Beyond those, there’s a growing slate of films in the works that could match Gunn’s tease, including The Brave and the Bold, The Authority, Swamp Thing, and a new Wonder Woman movie.

As for the small screen, the DCU currently has Waller, a Peacemaker spin-off, and Paradise Lost, a Wonder Woman prequel series, all in development. Animated shows featuring Blue Beetle and Mister Miracle are also on the way.

Could Gunn’s mystery project be tied to one of these, or is he hinting at something entirely new? I guess we’ll find out!

With so many titles announced back when DC Studios first revealed its Chapter One slate in January 2023, things have felt relatively quiet on the update front. Gunn’s tease might be the spark fans have been waiting for to show that the DCU machine is still moving forward.

Whatever those projects are, it’s clear Gunn is fired up about them. Now the wait begins to see which films and shows will break through next.
