James Gunn Says Fans Will "Appreciate" Will Poulter's Adam Warlock in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3
Marvel fans have been excitedly waiting for the introduction of Adam Warlock in the MCU and that introduction is coming in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3! The character’s appearance was teased in the second Guardians film, but he’s about to make his full-on debut and the character is being played by Will Poulter, who is a talented actor.
We don’t really know what to expect from the character in the film and we don’t know what his story arc will look like, but director James Gunn is extremely happy with how Poulter is playing the character, and he says that fans are going to “appreciate” the character.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, gun offered a little tease. It’s funny because the title of their article reads, “Guardians of the Galaxy 3's Adam Warlock Story Teased By James Gunn.” The thing is, Gunn doesn’t tease the story at all! Here’s his full quote:
"Oh, he's the best. He's the best. He's killing it. People are going to really love Adam — or love? They're going to appreciate Adam Warlock, I'll say."
As you can see, there’s nothing there that teases any kind of story for anything. I’m not a fan of misleading titles. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing this character in the MCU and it’s going to be interesting and cool to see where his story goes.
Gunn actually originally planned to include Adam Warlock in his treatment for Vol. 2, but said he dropped the character for creative reasons. He said, "It was in the original draft -- in the original treatment before it even became a screenplay -- Adam Warlock was a major character. And the screenplay was just too busy, there were too many characters. And I couldn't do Nebula justice and Adam Warlock justice and have them both in there so I decided to save Adam for another day."
Well, that day is now and Gunn is in the process of bringing his story to life in the MCU!
