James Gunn Tells STAR WARS Trolls To Go To Therapy
Star Wars trolls are making fandom an ugly place. It's hard to see a franchise that I love so much go through a constant bombardment of angry and hateful fans. Look, I get it if people don't like a movie but to attack the individuals who helped create the movie and the fans that love it isn't the way to go. We can have civil conversations and debates about the things we like and dislike about the direction of the franchise without resorting to bullying or wishing death on people.
Early today we posted an article about the guy who played Jar Jar Binks, Ahmed Best, and how he revealed that the backlash he got from the film almost drove him to kill himself. Then there's Kelly Marie Tran who was recently bullied off social media and director Rian Johnson is definitely taking his fair share of punches.
Well, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has some words for the Star Wars trolls and he straight up tells them they need to go to therapy. Gunn's comments were sparked by Best's tweet about being driven to the brink of suicide. Gunn says:
People need to chill out. https://t.co/2gdc3VakzC

People responding to this post saying, “Yeah, it wasn’t the actor’s fault! It was the writer’s!” are missing the point. Critique it. Don’t like it. But spewing hate and bile at individuals just doing their best to tell a story, even if the story sucks, is lame. Don’t watch it!

Star Wars (or any movie) may be important to you, but it doesn’t belong to you. If your self-esteem depends on how good you think the current Star Wars is, or your childhood is ruined because you don’t like something in a movie, GO TO THERAPY.

That's pretty damn blunt. What are you thoughts on what Gunn had to say about Star Wars trolls?
