James Gunn Thinks That a Marvel and DC Movie Crossover Is Possible; What Do You Think?

Over the years Marvel and DC fans have entertained the thought of seeing the two superhero properties crossover with each other. I never thought it would be something we would ever see on the big screen, but director James Gunn believes that it could happen.

During a Q&A on his Instagram page, the Guardians of the Galaxy director was asked about the idea of a Marvel vs. DC movie and this was his response:

"In the past I would have said no way, but today I think anything is possible."

The two properties have crossed over in the comics before, but as much as I like Gunn and his work, I don’t see how or why it would ever happen. Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment are on completely different paths.

Marvel plans out the future of their films way in advance and as of right now we know that they have at least the next five years planned out. On top of their films, they are also now developing several TV shows that are going to be tying into those films. Trying to work a DC crossover into their already packed and complicated plans wouldn’t make any sense at all. The addition of DC would throw it all off.

Then you have DC Entertainment, which is still in the process of figuring out what they are going to all of their properties. They aren’t in a place to even think about crossing over with Marvel.

So, in my opinion, I never see it happening. If it ever did happen, it would probably end up being a standalone animated film. Who knows, though. Maybe Gunn, who has worked with Marvel and DC, could bridge the gap and make it happen. I wouldn’t hold my breath for it, though.

What do you all think, though? Do you think that there is a real possibility to see Marvel and DC crossover on the big screen someday?
