James Gunn’s SUPERMAN Will Introduce the “Justice Gang”
James Gunn’s Superman reboot is officially introducing a superhero team known as... the “Justice Gang”. And while we reported this months ago, before the big industry scoopers caught on, it’s now confirmed. Sometimes it’s nice to out-scoop the scoopers.
The upcoming film will feature a lineup of heroes including Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
These aren’t just cameos in the film, they’re part of an organized team believed to be bankrolled by Maxwell Lord. Early assumptions pointed toward them being a precursor to Justice League International, especially with the "JL" insignia popping up on their gear.
But industry insider Daniel Richtman is now confirming that this team will go by the name Justice Gang in the film. Here’s what he had to say:
We don’t yet know if Justice Gang is their official team title or just what the general public calls them in-universe, but as you might imagine, it’s sure to stir up some conversation among fans.
Still, it’s worth noting that this group won’t be butting heads with Superman (David Corenswet). In fact, they’ll be working alongside him. Gunn has reportedly said:
“Gunn has indicated that the members of this team will be on good terms with the Man of Steel, but feel that he lacks experience and might be in over his head a little.”
That dynamic shakes things up and makes things interesting. Traditionally, Superman leads the charge with Batman and Wonder Woman, he’s not usually the rookie among seasoned vets. But this sets the stage for some compelling friction, maybe even some humility and growth from Clark Kent as he figures out how to step into his own as a symbol of hope.
