James McAvoy Explains Why He Thinks The X-Men Won't Be a Good Fit For the MCU

While a lot of fans are excited to see the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are a few that aren’t. In fact, James McAvoy, who plays the younger Charles Xavier in the X-Men films is one of them.

McAvoy doesn’t think that the X-Men will be a good fit for the the MCU, and in a recent interview with Yahoo! UK, he explains why he doesn’t think it would work:

“I don’t know if the X-Men could go into the Marvel universe, I’m not sure. Maybe they could? But I think what’s different about the Avengers universe anyway is you’ve only got a couple of superheroes in the world. There’s a good amount, but there’s like a couple of football teams’ worth, you know what I mean? Whereas in the X-Men world you’re potentially saying there are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of [superheroes] and the social implication of that is different.”

He makes a good point and raises some valid questions, but at the same time, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige will know exactly how to make it all work. They know what they are doing over there and when they combine these two worlds, they will do it in a way that will makes sense, works, and makes fans happy. I just don’t think Marvel is going to drop the ball on this.

What do you think of McAvoy’s comments?
