James Wan Producing a New Folklore Monster Movie for Universal Pictures

James Wan is producing a new monster movie for Universal Pictures through his Atomic Monster production company, and it will be written and directed by Leah McKendrick.

McKendrick is best known as the writer, director, and star of Scrambled. She recently wrote the script for the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer revival movie with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson attached to direct and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in talks to reprise their roles.

As for this new horror film project, all we know about the story is that it’s based in folklore, and the story will revolve around a mythical monster.

I love movies that play with folklore, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of story this movie will end up telling.
