James Wan Says ANNABELLE 3 Will Feel More Like a CONJURING Film Than the Other Spinoffs
If you’re a fan of James Wan’s Conjuring horror franchise, you’ll be happy to learn that the upcoming Annabelle 3 movie is going to feel more like a Conjuring movie than a spinoff.
I really loved the last spinoff film, Annabelle: Creation, because it was a really good creepy-ass story. But, it’s good to hear that the new film will be more in line with the original franchise. One of the main reasons for that is because the film will put the focus on the characters Ed and Lorraine Warren.
During an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, James Wan was asked if the new Annabelle film would feel more like a new Conjuring film and this was his reply:
“I think by the very nature of Patrick and Vera being in it, I would say somewhat, yes, because in Annabelle 3 the doll comes back to the Warren’s home. It finally comes to the Warren’s home so by the very nature of it actually being in the home and the story takes place in the Warren’s home, it feels more like a Conjuring film in that respect.”
Captain Marvel and Gifted star Mckenna Grace was previously cast in the role of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s young daughter Judy. She is the one who becomes the target of the demonic doll in the story.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star Madison Iseman was also cast in the film. She will play a babysitter who will be watching over Judy. As you might expect, Judy and the babysitter will both be terrorized by Annabelle as they are alone in the house.
The third installment of the Annabelle franchise “picks up with the Warrens bringing Annabelle to the place where it can really no longer wreak havoc, which is their artifact room. But, of course, it turns out she can also wreak havoc there. And she really awakens the evil within that room and they target the Warrens’ 10-year-old daughter, Judy.”
It was also teased that “Annabelle basically activates all the other haunted artifacts in that room. So, it’s basically A Night at the Museum, with Annabelle!”
The film will be directed by Gary Dauberman, from a script that he wrote. He will make his directorial debut with the film, and James Wan will produce.
Annabelle 3 will be released on July 3, 2019.
