James Wan to Direct Reimagining of South Korean Serial Killer Film THE GANGSTER, THE COP, THE DEVIL
Director James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw, Aquaman) has signed on to star in a new film for Paramount Pictures.
The project is a “reimagining” of the critically acclaimed South Korean film The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil. Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok), the star of the original, is also attached to the project.
In the original 2019 film, which premiered at Cannes, a gangster and a cop team up to ensnare a serial killer.
Oscar-winning writer, Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, LA Confidential), wrote the original draft and will serve as an executive producer, with Shay Hatten (Resident Evil) writing the screenplay. Wan will produce the film with Michael Clear for his company, Atomic Monster.
Don Lee is also producing, via Big Punch Global, alongside Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller, via Balboa Productions, Chris Lee, via B&C Group, and Jang Won-seok, CEO of BA Entertainment.
