James Wan To Produce a Series Adaptation of Mark Millar's THE MAGIC ORDER For Netflix
Netflix is set to develop a series adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book series The Magic Order and they’ve hired James Wan (Conjouring, Aquaman) and Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking, Sierra Burgess is a Loser) to produce it.
Wan will direct the first episode of the series and Beer will serve as the writer and showrunner. This is the third series that’s being developed from Millar’s comic book work. The other two include Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus. There are also three films in development which include Empress, Huck and Sharkey The Bounty Hunter.
In The Magic Order, “five families of magicians sworn to protect our world must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness — unless the darkness gets them first.”
This sounds like it will make a great series. I haven’t read the comic, but when Netflix released it, it ended up being the highest-selling new comic-book launch in almost 20 years. If you’re interested in reading it, the graphic novel, collecting the first six issues, has just been released.
If you have read the comic, do you think that it’s going to make for a good series!?
