James Wan Will Reportedly Co-Direct The SWAMP THING Pilot Episode!
Update: James Wan's publicist reached out to us to say that James Wan will not be co-directing or directing Swamp Thing. Kind of a bummer because I'd love to see him get to play with this character, but I guess that's not gonna happen.
Here's the original article:
When it was announced that James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring, Insidious) would be producing DC Entertainment's upcoming Swamp Thing series, I hoped that he would jump in to direct an episode or two. Well, according to That Hashtag Show, it looks like that might actually be the case!
The report says that Wan will co-direct the pilot episode with alongside Deran Sarafian. Sarafian has over 20 years of television experience and directed episodes of iconic series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, House and Fringe.
Both of these talents working together could end up delivering a hell of a great pilot episode. There's no word on if he'll help direct any of the other 13 episodes of the first season, but I'm excited to see what they deliver. I'm especially excited to see what the Swamp Thing character design looks like!
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
