Jamie Dornan Opens Up About His Failed Superman Audition and Almost Playing Nathan Drake in UNCHARTED

Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey, Belfast, Heart of Stone) recently opened up about a couple of big opportunities in his acting career that didn’t quite work out. He talks about his failed audition for Superman and the time he almost was cast as Nathan Drake in an Uncharted movie.

When talking about the Superman audition, this was when director Zack Snyder was casting for Man of Steel. He revealed that he actually showed up wearing his Superman pajamas. He said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast:

“I wore my own suit there. Was that a mistake? They were Superman pajamas, they weren’t an actual suit. I remember auditioning for that. I got nowhere near putting the suit on.”

Yeah, that probably wasn’t the best idea. He also talked about how he nearly played Nathan Drake in an earlier iteration of the Uncharted movie, a role that ultimately went to Tom Holland. He said:

"I remember I did a screen test for Uncharted years ago when they were going to make it with a different director. It went well and there was a point where it looked like maybe I was doing it. Then it all went quiet and went away – the director fell off."

"When I heard they were going to make it again I was like, ‘Oh, great’ but you’re too old now.”

There’s no word on what director he auditioned for, but Uncharted went through a lot of directors over the years including Shawn Levy, Joe Carnahan, David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Travis Knight, and Dan Trachtenberg. Any one of those directors would have done a much better job with the film than Ruben Fleischer.

Regardless of how things turned out for Dorian on these projects, It’s not hard to imagine him in either of those roles. Out of the two, he definitly would have fit the Nathan Drake role the best.
