Jamie Foxx Will Play Mike Tyson in New Limited Series TYSON From Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese
Jamie Foxx is set to take on the role of boxing legend Mike Tyson in a new biographical limited series titled Tyson. Antoine Fuqua is on board to direct the show and he will also executive produce alongside Martin Scorsese.
The series is said to span the whole life of Mike Tyson, and when talking about the series, Tyson said:
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time. With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
This is the second Mike Tyson series that has been announced recently. The first was a few weeks ago and it’s titled, Iron Mike. That project is set up at Hulu and is being written by Steven Rogers and directed by Craig Gillespie. This is the same creative team who previously made the Margot Robbie film I, Tonya. Robbie is a producer on the project.
Tyson was not happy about that series, calling it “Cultural Misappropriation.” This is the rival project that he promised, the series of which is being written by Colin Preston. Foxx has been talking about his involvement in a Mike Tyson project for some time, and it looks like this is the one that he’s been prepping for. The project was originally set up as a film, but has shifted into a series.
This is definitely the more exciting Mike Tyson project, but I’ll end up watching both of them.
