Jamie Lee Curtis Called The Current Phase of Marvel "Bad" and Then Apologized "I Will Do Better"
Jamie Lee Curtis recently made a comment about the current state of Marvel being “Bad” and now she regrets it and has offered an apology.
During a previous interview with MTV, Curtis was asked what phase Marvel was in, and the actress simply replied, “bad.” I saw this as a hilarious and quick-witted response and something that a lot of Marvel fans would agree with prior to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Well, the actress has now apologized for calling the current phase of Marvel “bad,” calling the comment “stupid” and said she even reached out to Kevin Feige personally to apologize.
She also said she wouldn’t be doing any “mud slinging” anymore, and would not do anything that is “designed for clicks not content.”
Her full apology reads: “My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better. I’ve reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition we call the internet nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content or conversation.”
I never even posted about the “Bad” comment. The only reason I’m posting this is because it’s funny that she is apologizing for something that didn’t need to be apologized for.
Who cares if she called the current state of Marvel bad! The studio has gone through a phase of producing bad content! That is the truth, and it is okay to call them out on it.
Hollywood is a weird place. In an industry that has so many things to apologize for, apologizing for calling the current state of Marvel “bad” is just silly. But, maybe Curtis wants in on the Marvel action and this is her way of mending things.
Ryan Reynolds even amusingly responded to the apology, saying: “Wait, is everyone expected to apologize for slamming Marvel post-Endgame?”
I don’t know, but this isn’t the first time that Curtis has spoken out against Marvel, though. She previously called out Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and said it was copying the 2022 hit Everything Everywhere All At Once.
She later said she had “nothing against Marvel as an entity. I’ve seen a lot of Marvel movies. What I was talking about is that Everything Everywhere All at Once was a little movie that could . . . and [we] were able to tell a multiverse story that really touched people.
“What I was trying to talk about was it doesn’t have to be a Marvel movie in order to be a spectacle and to really move you.”
What do you think about Curtis’ Marvel comments and her apology?
