Jamie Lee Curtis Will Reprise Her Role of Laurie Strode in New HALLOWEEN Film!
Holy cow! This is something that I wasn't expecting from the new Halloween film that's currently being developed by producer John Carpenter, Danny McBride, and director David Gordon Green. It was just officially announced by Universal Pictures that Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise her role of Laurie Strode in the movie!
As a fan of the original Halloween film, I couldn't be more excited to Curtis back in the role! I think that's awesome! There are no details on the story that this next chapter in the horror franchise will tell, but the announcement said that the story "carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film." They also offer the following information:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
According to McBride, the goal is to help make the "tenth sequel the scariest of them all." He also talked about the direction they are taking the film explaining that Michael Meyers won't be immortal.
“Look at where the Halloween franchise has gone. There’s a lot of room for improvement. David and I are coming from it as, we are horror fans, and we are humongous fans of John Carpenter and of what he did with the original Halloween, so I think from watching this and being disappointed by other versions of this series, I think we’re just trying to strip it down and just take it back to what was so good about the original. It was just very simple and just achieved that level of horror that wasn’t corny and it wasn’t turning Michael Myers into some supernatural being that couldn’t be killed. That stuff to me isn’t scary. I want to be scared by something that I really think could happen. I think it’s much more horrifying to be scared by someone standing in the shadows while you’re taking the trash out as opposed to someone who can’t be killed pursuing you.”
I can't wait to see how the character of Laurie Strode will be handled in this new Halloween film! The last time Jamie Lee Curtis reprised her role was in 2002's Halloween: Ressurection. which is where Michael Meyer's stabs her and throws her off a roof to her death. I guess this new film won't be following the continuity of the other films.
