Jane Levy Teases EVIL DEAD Return as Mia Allen and Wants Fans to Help Make It Happen

Jane Levy might be ready to pick up the chainsaw again, and judging by the reaction from Evil Dead fans, plenty of people would love to see her do it.

The actress, who played Mia Allen in Fede Álvarez’s brutally gruesome 2013 Evil Dead reboot, recently tested the waters about returning to the horror franchise.

During a post-screening Q&A hosted by Contra Celluloid, Levy brought up the possibility of revisiting the character who somehow managed to survive one of the most vicious nights in horror movie history.

“I have a question. Do you guys think Mia should come back to Evil Dead?” she asked in a video from the Q&A, igniting applause from the audience. “OK cool, I was just checking. That’s all.”

Levy followed that up with a joke about reaching out to franchise creator Sam Raimi to get things moving: “Let’s call Sam’s Skype number right now and see if he wants Mia to come back.”

That's certainly one way to get fans excited, especially since there have already been rumors about Levy potentially returning for the upcoming Evil Dead Wrath or another future installment.

Personally, I'd love to see Levy return to the franchise and continue Mia's story. Her performance was one of the best things about the 2013 film, and I always thought there was more to explore with that character.

Mia went through absolute hell, battling demonic possession, losing everyone around her, and eventually fighting her way out of a nightmare that should have killed her several times over. She earned that survival, and I've always been curious about what happened to her afterward.

What does life look like for someone who survives something like that? Does she try to move on, or does the evil eventually find its way back into her life? There's a lot of interesting territory to explore, and bringing Levy back could give the franchise a compelling continuation of a story that fans have been waiting years to revisit.

Of course, Evil Dead has been doing just fine exploring different stories. The franchise began with Raimi's original trilogy, The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1993), with Bruce Campbell becoming a horror icon as Ash Williams. Campbell later returned for a cameo in the 2013 reboot and starred in the Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead, which ran from 2015 to 2018.

Lee Cronin took the franchise in another gruesome direction with 2023's Evil Dead Rise, moving the terror into a Los Angeles apartment building. The series continued this summer with Sébastien Vaniček's Evil Dead Burn.

Next up is Francis Galluppi's Evil Dead Wrath, which is scheduled to hit theaters on April 7, 2028. That film will serve as a prequel to the original movie, taking place in 1972. Producer Robert Tapert has described the project as “another great departure” from the franchise.

Given that timeline, Mia's appearance in Wrath seems unlikely unless the filmmakers have something unexpected planned. A separate sequel following her character would make a lot more sense.

I enjoy that the Evil Dead franchise keeps finding new ways to unleash its particular brand of horrifying insanity, but I'd also like to see it revisit characters who have survived previous encounters with the Deadites. Mia is easily one of the most interesting candidates for that.

For now, Levy's comments are just a playful tease, and there's no confirmation that she's officially involved in another Evil Dead movie. Still, she clearly seems interested in the possibility, and the audience reaction suggests the appetite is there.

I'd absolutely be up for another round of Evil Dead with Levy leading the charge. Her character has unfinished business as far as I'm concerned.

Would you like to see Mia Allen return for another Evil Dead movie?
