Jared Harris Joins Sony's MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE Marvel Movie
Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Terror) has officially been cast in Sony Picture’s upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius The Living Vampire. There’s no information on who he’ll be playing, but he will join the previously cast Jared Leto.
Leto will play Morbius, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, "a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles."
Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) will also appear in the film as Martine Bancroft, who was engaged to the Morbius before he accidentally turns himself into a vampire. She ends up becoming a potential victim as Morbius learns to cope with his insatiable bloodlust.
Morbius is being directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House) from a script written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space).
Harris is a fantastic actor and this should be a fun project for him to take on. I just hope that the movie actually turns out to be good. I’m a fan of Marvel’s Morbius character, but I have no idea what to expect, other than the fact that producer Avi Arad says it won’t be an R-rated film, which is kinda disappointing for this character. But, we’ll see if they can actually pull this off.
Who do you think Harris could be playing in the film?
