Jared Leto is Set to Play Hugh Hefner in Biopic Being Directed By Brett Ratner

Well, that was fast! Hugh Hefner just died and now Jared Leto has jumped on board to play him in a biopic being directed by Brett Ratner. Ratner has been developing a Hugh Hefner biopic for about a decade after his Ratpac production company picked up Hefner's life rights. Now that Hefner isn't around, I guess its the time to put the project on the fast-track.

Before Hefner passed he approved of the film project saying:

“In recent years there has been plenty of interest and much conversation about doing a feature film based on my life. I have always believed that when the timing was truly right, the perfect creative partners would come together for this project. I believe we’ve found those partners in Brett Ratner and RatPac Entertainment. I’m very much looking forward to this collaboration.”

Hefner created and launched the Playboy magazine in 1953 with Marilyn Monroe as the centerfold. The magazine became a massive success throughout its run but things have started to take a dive in recent years.

Lots of people have lots of different opinions of Hefner and the legacy he left behind, but what do you all think about Leto playing him? Leto is certainly a great actor, but do you think he's the right fit? Do you even care?

As you know, Leto is a very method actor who does lots of crazy stuff to transform himself into the characters he plays in his films. I'm sure he'll have a lot of fun preparing himself to play Hugh Hefner.
