Jared Leto is Set to Star in Sony's MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE Marvel Movie

Sony Pictures has cast Jared Leto in the lead role of their upcoming Marvel film Morbius The Living Vampire, which is a part of their Spider-Man Cinematic Universe that Spider-Man isn't a part of.

According to THR, the deal is done and Leto will be adding another comic book character to his resume. He will take on the role of Morbius a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, "a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles."

The movie has been described as a horror action story that will follow Morbius who is disgusted by his own bloodlust, so he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life." So, it like a vampire version of Dexter! This seems like it will be a great part for Leto to take on. It's not hard to imagine him as a vampire.

The film will be directed by Daniel Espinosa, the filmmaker who previously helmed Safe House and last year's sci-fi thriller Life. The script is being written by Lost in Space scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

What do you think about Leto taking on the role of Morbius in Sony's upcoming film?
