Jared Leto Joins Director Darren Aronofsky's Next Film ADRIFT

Jared Leto is set to star in Darren Aronofsky’s next film project, Adrift. The two talents previously worked together twenty years ago on Requiem for a Dream. That film helped launch their careers, and it’s pretty cool to see them working together again on a new project.

Adrift is set up at Blumhouse Pictures, and it’s based on a short story by Koji Suzuki, who wrote The Ring. The story is set in “the dead calm of the open sea, where a fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht with a strange distress call. A deckhand agrees to take lone control of it while it’s towed into port, but soon he discovers why the rest of his more experienced crew members call it a ‘Ghost Ship’.”

This is a project that Leto has been pursuing over the past ten years, so it’s nice to see that everything worked out with that. Aronofsky and Luke Dawson will be writing the script.

Before Aronofsky directs Adrift, he will helm The Whale with Brendan Fraser for A24. It’s great to see Aronofsky lining up multiple film projects! It’s been a few years since he’s made a movie.
