Jared Leto Transforms Into a Blood-Sucking Vampire in First Trailer for MORBIUS
Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for their upcoming vampire Marvel film Morbius. Jared Leto is taking on the lead role of The Living Vampire in the film, and it seems like a role that he’s perfect for. This first trailer for the film is actually more impressive than I thought it would be, and it looks like director Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life) is going to deliver a great Marvel flick for Sony.
The trailer also surprisingly confirms the film is connected to the Spider-Man films as there’s a shot of Morbius walking through an alley with an image of Spider-Man on the walls with the word “Murderer” spray-painted over it. So, that was an interesting surprise. But the biggest surprise and connection comes at the very end of the trailer. I won’t spoil it for you. Just watch it.
Check out the trailer for your self below and tell us what you think!
Morbius, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, is "a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles.”
Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Crown, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Terror) also stars in the film along with Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising), who will play Martine Bancroft, who was engaged to Morbius before he accidentally turned himself into a vampire. She ends up becoming a potential victim as Morbius learns to cope with his insatiable bloodlust. Matt Smith is also in the film and plays Loxias Crown.
The script for the film is being written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space), and it will be released in theaters in the summer of 2020.
