Jared Leto's The Joker is Getting His Own Movie

Warner Bros. still doesn't seem sure about what they are doing. There have been a few films already announced that involve that include The Joker. There's a Suicide Squad 2, a Harley Quinn and Joker movie, a standalone Joker movie with producer Martin Scorsese and director Todd Phillips that is separate from the DCEU. Now, according to Variety, there's another standalone Joker movie that the studio wants to make that will focus on Jared Leto's The Joker!

I don't know why. It didn't seem like most fans were really happy with Leto's version of the classic Batman villain. the movie is said to help pave the way for future movies branching from Suicide Squad.

Plot details are currently unknown, but the studio’s idea is to expand on the world created by “Suicide Squad” and tie into future installments of that property. Warner Bros. already announced that Margot Robbie’s version of Harley Quinn would be getting her own movie with a “Birds of Prey” feature, and the next goal was setting up a film for Leto’s Joker.

As far as Scorsese and Phillip's Joker project goes, it's still moving forward. The report even confirms that Joaquin Pheonix has already been cast in the role of the villain. It will also be produced under a new origins banner that would be separate from the current cinematic DC universe. "This new banner would allow multiple actors and versions based on the same character with no overlap."

There's no word on what the plot of Jared Leto's new Joker film will entail, but it's believed to go into production sometime in 2019.

I didn't really care for Leto's version of the Joker and at this point, a movie that revolves around him doesn't interest me. But, as we see how things come together while it's being developed, maybe there will be something that sparks my interest.
